This thesis demonstrates a series process of intellectual enquiries and reasoning based on a ubiquitous ‘tourist phenomenon' in real life.Start with the ‘landscape' shot by the photographers through photographic equipments,the existence or level of the aesthetic value has been considered.Continuously,the relationship between ‘landscape' and ‘image' has extended out an important question on the best performance of landscape and on the value of painting.In order to find an answer to this question,combining the knowledge and the enthusiasm to landscape painting,this thesis studies and discusses the topic of ‘landscape painting image construction' in a professional way and with cautious attitude.As the core of this thesis,study on this question aims on finding a better explanation and solution for the relationship and creation between the artist and the traditional landscape painting,which have been in the middle of the diversified development of art painting.Another goal of this thesis is to enrich the theory knowledge of landscape research,and enlarge the possibility of improving the aesthetic value of landscape paintings.In the demonstration process of the present thesis,literature research,quantitative analysis,and case study analysis etc.have been used to make the whole process more reliable,reasonable and credible.It is also a combing to some detailed questions I had during my painting study and a self-analysis progress of myself.The thesis introduces the ‘tourist phenomenon' in detail from the ‘Introduction'.The landscape aesthetics,the art of paint,and related social problems in the ‘tourist phenomenon'have become the departure point of this thesis.In chapter one,‘landscape' and ‘image' have been interpreted in etymology.Combining with some actual cases in modern life,the relationship of ‘landscape' and ‘image' has been explained with the experience of previous artists in artistic history and theories of artistic aesthetics,and the sentiment of my own.Therefore,the conclusion of ‘landscape is an image of beauty' can be undertaken by the study of how important paint is to the landscape.Chapter two connects with the foregoing and carry forward to a new paragraph.Firstly,standing at the perspective of western art history,I summarize some representative cases to explore the reasons of the attitude changes towards landscape by western artists on oil painting,and findout the importance of landscape to the art of oil painting.Secondly,based upon modern Chinese culture,it is important to find out the special meaning and necessity of landscape painting to Chinese culture from its current development status.Thirdly,in terms of the content of this chapter,oil landscape painting is a kind of visual art carrier full of artistic value and aesthetic value.The third chapter closely integrates with the previous chapter and the content is based on the study in chapter one.Some famous theories have been imported and adopted in this chapter.The most important one is ‘Schema',which is one of the important concepts of the Constructivism(also known as Structuralism)theory founded by Piaget from Switzerland.‘Schema' refers to the perception and thinking process of an individual to the world.Some other theories are also involved in this chapter,for example,‘the initiative of an individual plays a key role in the construction progress of cognitive structure' theory that had been advocated and emphasized by Sternberg and Kats etc.,who were successors of Piaget's.Considering these theories and my own opinions and understanding on Richard Walheim's‘seem' and ‘see' theories,the formation of landscape oil painting can be divided into three parts: the subjective cognition of the creation subject,the order arrangement of the object symbol,and the image reproduction of the purpose.In this chapter,each part of them has been elaborated and explained with the examples of Chinese landscape artists,and it demonstrates the beautiful poetic attribute of the landscape oil paintings.Afterwards,the thesis concludes the function and meaning of the formation of portray,and uses instance analysis to the elaborate and emphasize the methods of analysis.Chapter four is the application of image construction in my own oil painting creation and revelation.Discussion and analysis with personal creation and sketch works finally confirm the feasibility and necessity of the research on the image construction of the landscape oil painting.
