Drama translation studies have focused on how to realize the performability and semantic equivalence on the language level in recent years. However, considering drama as a special literary genre with its peculiarities, such as performability, instantaneity and notelessness, there are no other compensatory measures, like intratextual annotation and extratextual gloss,to express some specific cultural and linguistic concept.Images in drama text are abundant in language, culture, and social background. Therefore how to appropriately and clearly transplant the images in drama text should be attached more importance in drama translation to render the audience the similar experience as the original audience.According to the Image-Schema theory, people in different communities have different levels of knowledge and cognitive experience.Since image in literary works tend to carry rich implications for characters' emotion and personality, making the presentation of image an important aspect of translation.Owing to the diversity of language and culture.translators should have a relatively comprehensive understanding towards situational atmosphere, characters' emotion and the general tone of the text before translating, which guarantees the integrity and rationality of each image representation. This thesis tentatively applies Image-Schema theory to drama translation study.Based on the categorization of Image-Schema theory, there are three translation strategies, image transmission, image transformation and image reactualization, which help to understand the phenomenon of cultural transplantation and cultural adaption, and ensure the maximum reservation of images in drama text, connecting seemingly irrelevant activities. Then,in a case study of Yu Guangzhong' translation Bu Ke Er Xi,this thesis studies the active influence of the three strategies on image representation,in which their application proves their explanation power in dealing with image representation and guarantees that the audience and reader gain the same understanding and experience as their original counterpart does.
