Taihang Mountains,located in central China and featured with heavy and graceful topography,has been the representative of north huge mountains and considered as the backbone of Chinese nation,which is full of natural spirit and profound cultural background.According to writers and painters of different epochs,its unique geomorphic feature and profound cultural accumulation have attracted them to stem away from the daily routines and retreat here to enjoy self-cultivation,which has promoted the formation of the forest reclusive culture of Taihang Mountains.The creative response incited by the attachments to Taihang Mountains of writers and painters,can be manifested in the language structures of landscape painting,which began from Jing Hao in Five Dynasties and his successor relying on the panoramic image of Taihang and vigorous language to demonstrate its grand scheme,was then followed by “The Top Four” in the Southern Song Dynasty taking on the landscape pattern of corner scenery to express the hurt caused by a fragmented country,and finally developed into a simple creative style based on north landscape pattern including Taihang Mountains.In the Yuan-Ming-Qing Dynasties,apart from political reason,painting had not nearly dabbled in this field and the occasional north mountain works had expressing one's emotion as the main purpose.It was not until modern times that north mountain style including Taihang landscape painting has been brought back to the painting circle,especially by the works of many famous painters,such as Wei Zixi,Jia Youfu,and Lv Yunsuo etc.The Taihang complex and Taihang phenomenon which has recently emerged among painters,calls for the new-generation painters to re-explore on the Taihang landscape language with unique spirit and visual cognition,to return to the landscape reconstruction of the Southern Song Dynasty by adopting the movement and fill of images to sketch out the “image”of Taihang Mountains,and finally to create the aesthetic conception by combing the landscape and affection.The idea charm on the basis of the large scheme can be ideally sensed by the readers and build up the new landscape of Taihang which is worth to test after the long times.
