Commonplace And Redemption:on The Time Problem Of Chinese Contemporary Family Novels

The combination of time with social life and social history has a historical consciousness,and it is inevitably mixed with ideological color.The family is a social group based on blood ties,usually within several generations,the family is not only a kind of accumulation of time in terms of time conception,but also the accumulation of history and human relations.Family novel describes the destiny of people during family's ups and downs in a certain period,which has particular contents,human relationships,the same structure of the clan and country and history attachment,etc.,presented by the forms of ordinarily time,redemption time and psychical time in co-relation with history.Banality is,in other words,ordinary.It is a common condition of time and presents the commonest condition of life time.In the family novel,it represents the essential and outward time phenomenon,mainly appears in the text in the form of traditional cycle time.However,under the influence of revolutionary realism,because of ideology,history linear time was conducted in banality way,and then became a kind of ordinary time of family life.The redemptive time is the resounding of timelessness and the possibility of spiritual salvation.It reveals the essence of time in family novel,it is inevitable that life is doomed to be dying away,and give birth to redemption as an echo in the eternity of time,which leads to human's emotion and soul redemption.Psychological time,also called subjective time,is a kind of imagery time of stream of consciousness,a subjectivity way of dealing with time,a chance to probing the inner part of family novels by flashback and imaginary.It gives an indulging effect during reading,and also querying traditional family history and value.These three kinds of time in China's contemporary family novel take on a process from outside to inner world.During the procession,of banality time to redemption time,psychological time plays the role as a connecting link between preceding and the following.This paper takes Chinese contemporary family novel as object,bythe combination of text analysis and case methods.It focuses on time processing art in China's contemporary family novel.There are 3 parts to discuss to research: the first part starts from the era background and the ordinary of family to analyze the characteristic,reason and expression way of banality time and summary that banality time is the preventative and essential form of time in family novel.In the second part,it clarifies the nature of family time is the life time,redemption as an eternal echo of time was born of destruction,and realized empathy effect together with human emotion and spirit.The last part of this paper analyzes how writers deal with psychological time as localization by the point of western psychological time,reveals that psychological time is the most direct way to family novel to achieve the effect of querying traditional family history and value.
