A Study On The Female Characterization In Satoshi Kon’s Animation

Since twenty-first Century,China’s animation industry has developed rapidly,and the number of original animation has been in the forefront of the world.However,it still could not create some animations like those produced by Ghibli and Disney to shock the world.Faced with the growing influence of the United States and Japan and other animation powers,how the domestic animation industry catches the eyes of animation fans and bring visual feast for them are questions worth exploring for Chinese animation industry.Carefully watching domestic animation,you will find that comparing with foreign animation roles,the domestic animation has a lot of problems.For example,the personality of the character is very simple,the female character is not well shaped,the technique of expression is rigid,the interaction of characters is not strong enough,and the creator’s core ideology lacks depth etc.For these problems,the author of this paper mainly develops a research on the shape of female roles.In related literature,there are fewer articles on the shape of female roles in animation,and they mainly focus on the external image shape but fewer researches on the internal and external combination of roles and the relation between roles and animations.Taking the work of Satoshi Kon-the Japanese genius director who prefers taking female as leading role,the author develops a research on the female role in her animation.The research of this paper,on the basis of knowing the basic elements of female role shaping,seeks for the diversity of factors that influence the shaping of female characters in the animation so as to explore the factors that led to the successful shaping of female roles in Satoshi Kon’s animation.This paper,taking Satoshi Kon’s animation life as breakthrough point,analyzes Satoshi Kon’s understanding on animation and female roles on the basis of knowing her emotion in animation and summarizes the basic features of female roles under her pen.Then it further analyzes Satoshi Kon’s animation and divides the female roles into three types according to their personalities-the leading female role featured with “Beat the demons and look for self”;the supporting female role featured with “Lose oneself”and mass female featured with “swim with the tide”,and analyzes them through tabular,comparative,and other types of research methods and makes a summary.Then it makes a deep research on the diversified shaping of female roles in Satoshi Kon’s animations,and researches from plot features to structural features,from performance and expressions to the interaction with the male role and the environment and finally interact with the lens language.At the same time,it makes a research on the influence of social factors on female role shaping from the perspective of social phenomenon reflection,cultural transmission,the transmission of ethnic cultures and functions.Through the comprehensive analysis from all aspects,the author analyzes the deficiencies in the actions,appearance and social attributes of female role in domestic animation.It is hoped that the understanding of successful female roles in Satoshi Kon’s animation can give some enlightenment to the female role shaping in Chinese animation.Wish that the Chinese animation industry could create more vivid and perfect female role so as to promote the development of Chinese animation.
