This paper starts with a general introduction,translation,comments and research status of Virginia Woolf in different periods in China.It analyses the reason why there is a transition in Virginia Woolf's comments and receptive direction in China.It discusses how the social cultural context and literary views in China influence the transition in receptive direction.Then this paper examines the influence upon Chinese literature creation and literary views,exerted by Virginia Woolf's translation and introduction and comments under this receptive direction.This part examines the enlightenment of stream of consciousness in China,which creation method is influenced by Virginia Woolf's literary works,such as Marks on the Wall.It also examines the enlightenment and influence upon Chinese female literature,influenced by Virginia Woolf's feminist thoughts.At last,based upon the above-mentioned discussion,this paper makes a comprehensive survey of Virginia Woolf's translation and reception.The ending part elaborates the unique significance of Virginia Woolf in the process of Chinese literature modernization in the 20 th century.Here the unique significance means that Chinese literature has been greatly influenced by many foreign writers and assimilated that.However,unique roles have been played by Virginia Woolf's stand of modern fiction,emphasis upon psychological truth,presentation of stream of consciousness and disclosure of female literature.
