The 19th century is a golden period of development for Italian opera.Historical changings were more saw in the classical opera to the romantic opera then to veristic opera.In this century,there sprung up new opera styles?composing thoughts,techniques.No matter from music works on the quantity and quality are at highly record;Different kinds of theatres also have been established,meanwhile,the art of singing has been an unprecedented increasing.SAVERIO MERCADANTE,contributed more than sixty operas,cantatas,chamber musics and chants are countless.He works all the year round to S.CARLO,LA SCALA,TEATRO NUOVO,PALERMO,NOVARA CATHEDRAL and other mainstream Italian opera houses and the churches.Since 1840,he served as the Principle of the Conservatory of Naples,until he died.The society of Italy at that time,through his life,could be seen the great changing as to be understood the background of the Italian-national-unity;Research the characteristics in different periods of Merca's creation also help to comprehend the developmental status of Italian opera in the beginning of 19th century,in order to analyze the operas which made Italian opera another high peak in the second half of 19th century.Mercadante's ideas on teaching practice,theory works and chamber music and solfeggis more has a positive influence on the later composers.
