The Studv Of Plucked Instruments’ Sound Characteristics And Its Application In Electronic Music

The advancement of science and computer technology provides the important tools for musical composition.The Composers all of the world are using various ways of combining electronic music and acoustic instruments,including the use of plucked instruments are common in their works,there are many creative works and brings different feeling to the audiences.Plucked instruments are widely used in the world,especially in folk music.Historically,plucked instruments occupy an important position in Chinese national music.China’s plucked instruments have a long history and a wide variety,the most common include:Lute,Liuqin,Yueqin,Ruan,Sanxian,Yanqin,Zheng,amongst others.In the electronic music works,there are varieties works combining plucked instrument application,including with live performing music and pre-designed electronic music,and also the pure electronic music with the sound processing to the plucked instrument,as well as the interaction electronic music works.In these different types of works,most of them are combining with live performing and pre-designed music.As the research of electronic music,the author pays a lot of interests and attention to string and paddle instruments and select it as the object of this paper.According to the characteristics of electronic music,this paper focuses on stringed and plucked instruments incluing the Guitar,Guzheng,Pipa,and Liuqin.These instruments will be analyzed to study their characteristics,include sound characteristics and frequency response characteristics.The paper will analysis the works of Steve Reich’ s"Electronic counterpoint" and Li Jia’ s "Twinkling Light over Water",and finally will present my own work "String" to apply electronic processing in to plucked instruments.The study of electronics music combining to string and paddle instruments will raise more attention to whom are interested in this topic and brings the benefits to further study the acoustic characteristics of these string and paddle instruments.By different electronics processing,the sound will be developed in different effects from those instruments.The paper is also described how its application in the electronics works,it will be a help to the future music production.
