Contemporary Chinese Operas Adaptation Of Lu Xun's Fictions

Lu Xun's fictions are rewarded and respected because of themselves' high literary value and culture taste.Lu Xun's fictions represented by The True Story of Ah Q have been adapted to modern drama,movie,Chinese opera and more forms of art to present on the stage.From the 1990's,opera adaptation became the main part of Lu Xun's fictions' adaptation.There are two excellent works named Qu opera Ah Q and Kong Yiji,Yue opera Kong Yiji around the contemporary drama.This paper is point of penetration with the connection between different arts,to study the drama adaptation of Lu Xun's fictions by analysing the drama factors of Lu Xun's fictions.This paper utilize close reading,contrastive and analysis to study the drama adaptation of Lu Xun's fictions and discuss the innovation of contemporary drama.This thesis is consisted of five parts,with the contents as following: Chapter one:different arts are interlinked,there is interpenetration between fiction and drama,therefore,sometimes,the drama factors will be permeated in the process of writing novels.The first chapter will use Lu Xun's fiction as examples to discuss the drama factors of Lu Xun's fiction.This part will reveal the drama factors of Lu Xun's fictions by analyzing the unique tragic,the dramatic characters and the technique of expression full of dramatic feature of Lu Xun's fictions.Chapter two is the text analysis of Qu opera Ah Q and Kong Yiji.In the process of creation,the screenwriter Chen Yongquan keep to the spirit of the original,figure the property of modern time,weave a plot skillfully,let the drama happen with two story lines.On the one side,he pay attention to theconflict with different persons,on the other hand,he attach importance to the self-contradiction,therefore,Ah Q and Kong Yiji are two successful characters in the opera stage.Compared with the fiction,Qu opera Ah Q and Kong Yiji still have some deficiencies.Chapter three:this part will analyse the text rewriting of Yue opera Kong Yiji.Unlike Qu opera,Yue opera write the story by re-explanation of fiction and reconstruction of the theme.The screenwriter make the drama with three story lines by mixing many characters and stories of Lu Xun's different fictions.And the character Kong Yiji of Yue opera is very different with the character of novel.Chapter four make the comparision with Qu opera Ah Q and Kong Yiji to rethink the problems of famous work adaptation.Although there are resemblances in the theme with Qu opera Ah Q and Kong Yiji and Yue opera Kong Yiji,that is distinct of the spirit theme and charaters of two operas.The reason for the difference is that the different drama adaptation of two writter.To my point of view,the writter should try to close to the original and respect for the cultural connotation when he make the masterpiece adaption.The last chapter is to reflect on contemporary drama reform from Lu Xun's fictions and drama adaptation.Contemporery drama reform should both based on the traditional opera standard and enrich its stage performance.By using for reference experiences of other arrts.Contemporary drama reform should improve the aesthetic taste,meanwhile,pay attention to the literariness of Chinese opera.
