Doris Lessing, the winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for literature,is one of the prominent female novelists in the contemporary era.Her novels are popular with readers in the world with a wide range of themes, changing styles, profound thoughts and innovative forms. In the background of changing situation in twentieth Century, she has always been concerned about social reality and contemporary life and written down what she saw and heard, and her novels have distinct political overtones, such as a prism refracting realism light.Based on the theory of literature and politics, this paper studies the political writing in the whole of Lessing's novels. This paper holds that her novels reflect the social problems of race, country, gender and ecological environment, and put forward a harmonious and symbiotic political ideal, expressing the vision of a multicultural symbiosis, world peace and stability, harmonious relations between men and women, and harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The reason why Lessing has devoted herself to writing political themes is that she believed that literature “had the power to destroy the Empire”.In addition, the dual cultural identity of African white men has made her cross the boundaries between race and territory, and the experience of war and exile has made her developed compassionate feelings,so in fact she is writing for the survival of mankind.Literature is the reflection of social reality, her novels have an important role in understanding the twentieth Century British and western human culture, politics and history, not only has triggered a series of social effects at the time, but also has great implications for the writing of today's writers and the development of Chinese society. In the face of the political pressure of the twentieth Century,Lessing had the courage to write the reality of society, which is not only a responsibility for society and her life, but also for her own political ideals.
