The Research On Zhang Dai's Essays

This article mainly uses the method of literary theory and the textual research to demonstrate and discriminate the literary concept of Zhang Dai's essays, the literary situation and the interior literary characteristic. First of all, I make the concept and connotation of " essay " in concrete times clearly, and differentiate and analyze a basic theoretical framework of the concept of " essay". Secondly, I return to the specific object of this study -- Zhang Dai's essay, and make the shape, appearance, style, features,content, and emotion clearly. Thirdly, I explain and demonstrate the secular description of Zhang Dai's essay respectively. Finally, I explore and demonstrate the sources and performances of the soul of Zhang Dai's essay.The main part of this paper is divided into four chapters, and four appendices are attached to the whole text's main part.The first chapter is the analysis of the concept of " essay". Analyzing the specific concept of its connotation according to analyze the opinions of the scholars of the late Ming Dynasty to research and analyze the stylistic, literary aesthetic paradigm , literary style and other aspects so as to have a clear understanding of the rational concept of essay,and make it be the theoretical premise.The second chapter is the analysis of Zhang Dai's famous pieces. Collating and verifying the information of his books, including the forming time, version, style, and the propagation to analyze their theoretical conjunction with the concept of essay.The third chapter is to analyze and demonstrate the secularization of Zhang Dai's essays. Using the secularization theory and the ideological trend of late Ming Dynasty to show Zhang Dai's pieces have the inherent features like being vulgarized, hedonic, and regional.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the characteristics of "the soul" showed in Zhang Dai's essay. Mainly from three aspects: the original text content, the influence of late Ming Dynasty literature, and the specific performance and spirit that the essay presented.The content of the appendix is the narration and evaluation about " essay" from The Evolution of the Concept of essays from Wei Dynasty and Jin Dynasty to Yuan Dynasty and The General Catalog of Si Ku Quan Shu, and the standpoints of essay combing in chronological order from The Documentary Description Situation of Zhang Dai's essay and The addendum and comments of Zhang Dai 's essay to prove the concept of essay in late Ming Dynasty. At the same time, from Zhang Dai's essays and later literati's comments on his essays, we can objectively understand the external and inner reality of Zhang Dai's essays.
