Along with the deepening communication around the world,more and more sino-foreign not only economic,but also cultural exchange is booming.Based on that,there is an increasingly pressing need of professional translators who have a good grasp on the both Chinese and English academic knowledge.The translation project,A metonymic analysis of Singaporean and Malaysian English causative constructions,is finished under the background of necessity and complexity of translating academic works.In consideration of complexity of academic papers and its accuracy,the translator needs to keep adjusting the orders and wording to perfect the translation version.About the translation strategies,this report indicates how to achieve a better translation version among several choices.The author tried to respect the original order,if can't,we can restructure the sentences based on the original meaning.These methods are illustrated in chapter 4 at syntactic level.All in all,whether it is a good translation version depends on whether the target readers can get the information that the original author intended to convey.In the chapter 4,case analysis part,the author discussed how to translate passive voice,attributive clauses,adverbial clauses and nominal clauses.The first difficult point is how to discussed the translation strategies combined with the language features of academic works.In order to solve this problem,the translator check the features: technicality,theoretical property,scientificity and innovation.The second key point is how to adjust phrase and sentence order,how to make choicesbetween passive and active voice during the translation process of long and complex sentences.The translator provides some translation choices and translation strategies through comparing several translation versions.
