Research Thoughts Of Thomas Reid's Philosophy Of Psychology

Thomas Reid was one of the important philosophers in eighteenth century and also one of the representatives in common sense school.Although the philosophy thoughts of Reid plays a crucial role on the development of the contemporary philosophy,little attention was paid to it for a long time until the end of the twentieth century when more attention was engaged to it again.This thesis,under the background information of Reid's philosophy of common sense and based on sorting and analyzing the thoughts of his philosophy of psychology,attempts to excavate the quintessence among it,and to figure out the enlightening ideas which are contained in his philosophical thoughts.This thesis consists of five parts.They are the introduction,the theoretical background of Thomas Reid's thoughts of philosophy of psychology: philosophy of common sense,the core thoughts of Thomas Reid's philosophy of psychology,the influence and development of Reid's philosophy of psychology,and conclusion.Introduction makes a brief overview about the background,the purpose and significance of this thesis,the current status of the relevant research both at home and abroad,the research method and innovation so as to show the necessity of research on the thoughts about Reid's philosophy of psychology.The first chapter starts with the basic theory of philosophy of common sense,also combined with two aspects of scepticism and critique of reason to further expound the philosophy of common sense,and in the end of this chapter,establishes the theoretical background of Reid's philosophy of psychology,basing on the knowledge that the philosophy of common sense aims to explore the mind.The second chapter,as the core of this thesis,combs and analyzes the thoughts about Reid's philosophy of psychology from five aspects respectively.They are the instinct,affection and passion,desire and appetite,sensation and perception,and action.The third chapter mainly combines the modern and contemporary development situation of the theory involved in the thoughts of Reid's philosophy of psychology and makes a corresponding explanation on the influence of Reid's philosophy of psychology in order to let people objectly treat the thoughts of Reid,and excavate ideas that deserves to use for reference.Conclusion is a comprehensive summarize of this research.
