Acted as a historian,the Roman author Plutarch who write essay in Greek was famous for his The Parallel Lives of Grecians and Romas and Moralia which contain a number of Greek and Roman anecdotes.It is worth noting that Plutarch critical Herodotus who is called the father of history in his context On the malice of Herodotus.why his response so intensely? what is his intention and purpose?Furthermore,considering the Rome attaches great importance to the history and historical writing context,it is necessary for us to inquiry the Plutarch's intention.For those reasons above,On the malice of Herodotus will be treated as the research object,we try to obtain Plutarch's knowledge and understanding about Herodotus and his Histories by combing with historical background and text analysis.so this research is divided into five parts,the focus will be on the third and fourth parts.The first chapter is the introduction which divided into three sections.presenting the reason and meaning why we choose Plutarch's On the malice of Herodotus by introducing the circumstance of Herodotus and its Histories.Besides,we will comb the spread and actuality of Herodotus' histories and Plutarch's On the malice of Herodotus.On account of the article is long in Plutarch's books,i divide it into chapters and inductive each paragraph to help understand.The second chapter mainly discussed the formal,structure and reader of On the malice of Herodotus.secondly,I will present the principles and criteria what Plutarch judge Herodotus and its Histories by.The third chapter analyzed the Plutarch's question and correction to Herodotus' knowledge and understanding about Greco-Persian wars.in recent years,there are some treatises such as Blach Athena,Orientalize revolution hotly discuss about the Greek civilization origins.The fourth chapter focus the Greeks in Greco-Persian wars.I will study the Spartan and Athenian in Herodotus and Plutarch's relevant criticism,because in Plutarch's eyes that Herodotus' historical chronicle is not present the brave of Greek in wars.At last,The final chapter is conclusion of the whole essay.
