Zhuangzi's “Freedom” And Its Contemporary Significance

The core content of Zhuangzi's philosophy is its exposition of“Freedom”of human.The state of “ Freedom” and “ Liberation ” expressed by Zhuangzi,which is the liberation of people from the constraints,is fundamentally a "Transcendent Freedom." This paper will start from Zhuangzi's criticism on the dilemma of "Zhou Li" restored by Confucius,and then discuss Zhuangzi's "Transcendent Freedom" and it's characteristic;the detached object and the realized goal of "Transcendent Freedom";the path and method of "Transcendent Freedom";the limitations and rationality of Zhuangzi 's“Freedom”and the reference significance of this view of this“Freedom”in contemporary times.The introduction focuses on the origin and significance of the topic;the research status and the logical order and innovation of this thesis.The first chapter discusses the core position of "Transcendent Freedom" in Zhuangzi 's philosophical thought.In view of Confucius' s attempt to revive the political ideal of "Zhou Li",Zhuangzi critically points out that Confucius' ideal of value is divorced from the reality of real life,and its “Ritual” and “Benevolence and Righteousness” deviate from the good value of the existence of man and ultimately harm the freedom of human nature.Based on his deep understanding of the living conditions of the people,Zhuangzi puts forward the philosophical proposition of "Transcendent Freedom" and puts it as the core of its philosophy.The second chapter explores the detached object and the realized goal of Zhuangzi's "Transcendent Freedom".Zhuangzi believes that the detached object of the "transcendent freedom" is the state of existence bounded by "desire".Zhuangzi points out that the reason why human life will sink is "Desire"."Desire" is a temporary fragmented paranoid existence,the form of which is diverse such as the desire of Farm,the desire of Power,It is fundamentally tempt and drive people from the eternal beauty of the "Dao",to the enslavement of the unfortunate.Based on the destructive nature of man's freedom,Zhuangzi advocates a transcendence of free survival to giveup“Dsire”and go after“Dao”.Zhuangzi regards "do follow the Dao " as the basis of this valuable free life.The third chapter deals with the path and method of realizing the "Transcendent Freedom".Zhuangzi thinks that man is the being of a kind of "dwelling" type in the secular world,so the path of Freedom is an intervening "dwelling",namely going beyond anywhere and anytime to Freedom in the "much difficult" situation of the value of opposition.This path fundamentally determines the skilled method in which people achieve Freedom: on the one hand,people need to guard against the secular "Desire",and through the dissolution of "self-desire" to achieve the Freedom,that is,the method of“ZuoWang”?“XinZhai”?“XuJi”;On the other hand,through the understanding and preservation of the true universe of the Dao and do follow it,namely,the method of“ShouZong”,“BaoShi”,“BaoZhen”.The fourth chapter is based on the contemporary social dilemma to elaborate the inspiration and reference significance of Zhuangzi 's Freedom.First of all,in this paper,the freedom in the Marxist view is understood as: freedom is the creation of independent historical practice of social people through the understanding of the inevitability and the transformation of the objective world.this article reveals two limitations of Zhuangzi's“Freedom”based on this stand: on the one hand reveals the limitations of Zhuangzi's “Freedom”:First,the view of Zhuangzi's “Freedom” is not aware of freedom as the creative practice of human beings,and thus has the historical limitations of subjectivism in essence.Second,Zhuangzi's view of freedom is not aware of the social history of freedom,and thus has the historical limitations of individualism in essence.This article also summarizes the three reasonable cores of Zhuangzi's “Freedom”:the spirit of caring for life,the spirit of self-cultivation and the spirit of infinite transcendence.Secondly,this paper points out that the problems and crises of contemporary society are mainly manifested in three aspects:(1)the collapse and loss of the inner value of the humanism caused by the rampant scientific and technological doctrine;(2)the low and mediocre personality caused by the rise of modern egoism;(3)the prevalence of consumerism leads to the harmonious relationship between man and nature to be destroyed.At the same time,based on thedilemma of contemporary life world,it clarifies the reference significance of Zhuangzi's “Freedom” to overcome the dangers of scientific and technological doctrine,egoism and consumerism in modern society.Commodity economy triumph led to the prevalence of consumerism,destroying the harmonious relationship between man and nature.Finally,based on the dilemma of contemporary life world,it clarifies the reference significance of Zhuangzi's Freedom to overcome the blindness of scientific and technological doctrine,the antagonism of egoism and the harm of consumerism.
