The Effect Of Visual Working Memory To Anger Superiority Effect

Face is an important signal to express emotion,happy face conveys the joyful signal,and the angry face lurks threat information,A lot of studies show that people is able to quickly detect angry faces.On the basis of Moriya's study in 2014,the study used the materials which were from Chinese Facial Affective Picture System,and combined with the "memory-search" dual-task paradigm,for focusing on the internal mechanism of visual working memory to anger superiority effect.The Experimental 1 regard a colored square as memory item,four faces as the search sequence images,Let the participants search a target anger face in the three happy face,or search a happy target face in three angry faces.Finally,let the participants judge whether the color of the square same with the memory item.The study set up two kinds of conditions: the valid matching conditions which the color of memory item is consistent with the target face,and the invalid matching conditions which the color of memory item in accordance with distraction faces.The results show that the reaction of angry face is significantly faster than happy face,and induced N2 pc and SPCN more greater than happy face.The reaction of valid matching condition was significantly faster than the invalid condition,But there is no significant difference on the EEG data,mainly because of the time interval between the memory item and search sequence is too short,cognitive control cannot be effective intervention,and affected the visual working memory to the attention.Based on Moriya's study is not set neutral matching conditions,The Experiments 2 set 50% of all trials were valid trials and 50% of all trials were neutral trials(i.e.,the color of memory item is difference from target and distracted face).The results found that face type of main effect significantly,angry face faster than happy face,angry faces induced N2 pc significantly greater than the happy faces.Matching conditions main effect significant,the valid conditions of faster than neutral.The same as N2 pc.The interaction was also significant,under the neutral match,the reaction of the angry face faster than happy faces,induced N2 pc and SPCN significantly greater than happy emotion face.But under the valid matching condition,there was no significant difference between anger and happy face,the angry Superiority effect disappeared.In a word,The Top-down visual working memory content representation not only affects the early attention to capture phase,but also influences the late stage of the of keeping anger superiority effect.
