A Comparative Study On Examples Of Native-oriented And Foreign-oriented Chinese Dictionary

Foreign?oriented Chinese dictionary is designed for the learning and teaching of non-native Chinese learners.Examples play a vital role in the dictionary and provide different information for the readers.But the research on examples is insufficient.The research focuses on the principles and effects.This paper puts forward to three principles based on the previous research: simplicity,typicality and distinctiveness.According to the three principles,this paper selects the psychological verbs as the research object and study the difference between Modern Chinese Dictionary(Sixth Edition)and The Commercial Press Learner's Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese.The introduction mainly includes the review of the research about the learner's Chinese dictionary,the selection of the research object,the research materials,and the research methods.The first chapter is the simplicity.We study the words and the contents of two dictionary's example by the principle.Firstly,we examine word levels according to Syllabus of Graded Words and Characters for Chinese Proficiency.Secondly,we analyze the example's contents from two aspects: the content whether or not associated with the readers' life,the contents whether or not corresponds to the habits of the native speakers of Chinese.The second chapter is the typicality.According to the principle,we investigate the syntax information and semantic information.We study the matching degree between the paraphrase and the example.The adequacy of the semantic collocation is the core of our study.In the grammatical information,we investigate the grammatical information of different units of examples.On the other hand,we study that the grammar collocation information of two dictionaries is whether used.The semantic collocations and grammatical collocations are examined on use rate.The third chapter is the distinctiveness.For a large number of mixed words of HSK composition corpus,this paper focuses on the example of two dictionaries in several common words that is easy to be confused by international students,investigating if two dictionaries is able to resolve these errors.
