Margaret Drabble is a well-known female writer in Britain, with a writing career of more than forty years. However, most Chinese readers are unfamiliar with her,and the study of her is insufficient as far as her value is concerned.Published in 1972,The Needle's Eye has attracted wide attention in the literary world.Studies of the novel mainly focus on feminism, religion and the image of characters.Up till now, there are still many places worth researching. This thesis finds that postmodern narrative technique is another important way to further study The Needle's Eye.Guided by postmodern theory, this thesis explores the characters, structure, and narrators in the novel through fragmentation, indeterminacy and intertextuality techniques.Through research, this thesis concludes that the novel contains postmodern narrative techniques and thus exposes the disordered state of postmodern society.Through analysis, the thesis further reveals the personalities and inner thoughts of the characters, social disadvantages,as well as Drabble's concern for women's destiny.
