Study On Henri Lefebvre's Rhythmanalysis Theory

Henri Lefebvre,a famous French philosopher and thinker,has been engaged in thecritique of everyday life in his lifetime.The method of rhythmanalysis is that based on the rhythm,one analyses the reality with the body.Firstly,this paper analyzes the social background and ideological origin of the rhythmanalysis theory,which emphatically points out that the main capitalism countries' social reality after World War II and the spring-up of studying on the alienation problem leaded by the western Marxism are the key social background.At the same time,the development of modern music in the twentieth century gave Lefebvre the inspiration of rhythm.Meanwhile,this paper stresses that the Marx's theory of alienation of labor and the Bashkortostan's poetic imagination theory also gave some enlightenment to the theory.Secondly,according to the book “ Rhythmanalysis: Space,Time and Everyday Life”,this article respectively shows the main contents of the rhythmanalysis theory.The logical starting-point of the theory is the rhythm;the core category of the theory is the body;the central proposition of the theory is that rhythmization is alienation in the capitalist societies;the practical purpose of the theory is we should be against the alienation in the capitalism in order to keep away from alienation.Finally,this paper evaluates the rhythmanalysis theory on the basis of the Marxist stand,viewpoint and method.On one hand,The theory enriches the special form of the Marx's alienation labour,at the same time,it is applied to analyze the capitalism societies,which explores the new methods of critiquing capitalism.On the other hand,due to the limitations of himself and his times,he overstates the role of rhythm in the unity of the world and confuses the rhythmization with the alienation of labor.The theory isn't succeeded in exploring the alienation's economic root behind the phenomenon,which makes the solutions proposed by Lefebvre deviate from the historical materialism.However,the efforts made by Henri Lefebvre to expose capitalist invasion and exploitation,and criticize the capitalism tirelessly should be acknowledged.
