The Interaction Between Face Expression Recognition And Body Expression Recognition

Emotion recognition plays a very important role in our daily social life,the good cognitive ability of emotion is conducive to social activity.expression are often used to transmit emotion information,including face expression,body expression and verbal expression.The face expression can transmit more emotional information,and people can understand other people's emotional state,gender and Social status by recognizing others face expression.Face expressions and body expressions is not exist alone,both exist at the same time and provide us with the full emotion information,especially people unable to identify individual emotions from face expression in the distant social,body expressions recognition plays a more important role.In recent years,face expressions and body expressions become a hot spot of psychology research,many researchers to study face expression.Recently,some researchers began to study the body expression,and started to study the interaction between face facial expression and body expressions.This research adopts the behavioral experimental approach to investigate face expression recognition and body expression recognition influence each other.Experiment 1 used affective priming paradigm,from single expression or body expressions perspective to study the mutual influence between face expression recognition and body expression recognition,in experiment 1a,body expression as the prime stimulus,and face expression as the target stimulus,exploring the influence of body expression on the accuracy and reaction of face expression recognition time;Instead,Experiment 1b used face expression as the prime stimulus,and body expression as the target stimulus,investigating the influence of face expression on the accuracy and reaction time of body expression recognition.Experiment 2 used affective priming paradigm,from another perspective to investigate the influence of faces-body compound stimulus on face expression recognition and body expression recognition,in experiment 2a,face-body compound stimulus as the prime stimulus,and body expression as the target stimulus,investigating the influence of face-body compound stimulus on the accuracy and reaction time of body expression recognition;In Experiment 2b,face-body compound stimulus as the prime stimulus,face expression as the target stimulus,investigating the influence of face-body compound stimulus on the accuracy and reaction time of face expression recognition.The results of this study are as follows:(1)Face expressions and body expressions has significant priming effect,compared with the unemotional priming,affective priming play a very important role in promoting or inhibiting the recognition of target stimulus.(2)Face expressions and body expressions have emotional stroop effect in between,face expression is consistent with the emotions of body expression,faster response and higher accuracy;When both inconsistent,the reaction time more slowly,accuracy is lower;Unemotional primeing,reaction time and accuracy are centered.(3)In face-body compound stimuli,the emotion relationship of face and body affect the identification of target stimulus.Compared face and body emotion types inconsistent condition,in the consisitent condition,the subjects face expression recognition and body expressions recognition accuracy is significantly higher.(4)Face-body compound stimulus as a start to stimulatethe prime stimulus,the recognitions of face expression and body expressions have face expression of face-body compound stimulus bias.
