The study of language use and language attitude is of great importance in the fields of sociolinguistics. At present, many scholars both in Western and China have achieved fruitful results in the field of the study.China is a multi-ethnic country, therefore it is necessary to further explore and further expand the language use and language attitude of ethnic minorities.Especially, there is less studies for Tajik people in shared community of Xinjiang. In the study, our sampling place is Buyluk village,a typical shared community inhabited by Tajik people and other ethnic groups, and our participants are chosen from local Tajik people, totally 110 local Tajik people. The study conduct “variation theory” and “domain theory”.In the study, adoption of questionnaire and informal interview are presented,at last, all the questionnaire data is input and processed through the Statistical Package of Science(SPSS 19.0).Firstly,language proficiency of Tajik people in Buyluk village was very low, only a few people could say the Tajik langauge, other people can hardly speak.Instead, language proficiency of Uygur and Chinese language of Tajik people was very high, which reflects Tajik people actively improve their Chinese language competence.Secondly,as for language usage,Tajik language is not a privileded language among Tajik people, instead,Uyghur and Chinese are most widely used in Buyluk village.Because of the increasing of language contact and communication, the influence of Chinese takes higher using rate. Therefore, language use of mother tongue is not optimistic.Uyghur language takes the dominant position.Thirdly,as for language attitudes, although Tajik people in Buyluk village do not use their own language, people are strongly affectionate toward their mother tongue and they are more reasonable and pay more attention to the instrumental functions attached to Chinese language.Besides,“the frequency of speaking Chinese” is the major influential social variable that affecting their attitudes towards Tajik language.Lastly, the study on language use and language attitudes ofTajik people in shared community of Xinjiang as an empirical caseand will provide some singnificant findings and suggestion s for the further studies.
