The Influence Of Self-construal On The Holistic Processing Effect Of College Students' Face Recognition

Self-construal is used to describe how much of an individual's self is separated from others,or to what extent is it linked to others.Markus et al.'s independent self-construal and interdependent self-construal theory provide a new perspective for the study of individual differences in psychological phenomena.In the interpersonal communication,people mainly through the face to identify others,in the recognition process there is the face of the holistic and analytical individual differences.This paper explains the difference of the holistic processing effect in face recognition from the perspective of self-construal.Experiment 1 uses composite face paradigm to explore the effect of different self-construal types on the overall processing effect of college students' face recognition.Experiment 2 is based on the dynamic construction theory of self-construal proposed by Hong et al.,Under the condition of different cultural initiation Whether there will be a temporary conversion of the cultural framework corresponding to the current situation,providing a feasibility study for the study of experiment three.In the experiment 3,the cultural initiation paradigm was used to start the different types of self-construction through the Sumerian soldiers' story and the rural travel task,and the effect of the self-construal type on the overall processing effect of the face was explored.The effect of self-construal on the overall processing effect of the face is explored by combining the types of static self-construal and the type of self-construal under dynamic start condition.Experiment 1: The effect of self-construal type on the overall processing effect of the face,experiment 2(self-construal type: independent self-construal,interdependent self-construal)× 2(consistency: consistent and inconsistent)× 2(alignment: alignment and misalignment)three-factor mixed experimental design.Experiment 2: The dynamic construction of college students' self-construal,the experimental design for single factor subjects,independent variables for the subjects to build self-initiated type(interdependent self-starting group,independent self-starting group and control group).Experiment 3: The effect of self-construal on the overall processing effect of the face,the experiment adopts 3(self-construal start type: interdependent self-construal start group,independent self-construal start group,control group)×2(consistency: consistency and inconsistency)×2(alignment: alignment and misalignment)three-factor mixed experimental design.Based on the above research,this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)interdependent self-construal subjects are more likely to adopt a holistic approach to cognition;(2)There is self-construal start effect,in the experimental context,the subjects can achieve the cultural framework of the immediate transfer;(3)self-construal initiation has an impact on the overall processing effect of the face.Compared with the independent self-construal,the interdependent self-construal and the static interdependent self-constructed subjects are more likely to face the whole processing.
