The Incubation Effect In The Process Of Solving Puzzles

Incubation effect refers to the problem solving process encountered difficulties,temporarily put the problem aside,into a incubation stage,and then to solve the problem to promote the role of the phenomenon.The puzzle refers to a Chinese characters game riddle guess the riddle,the answer is usually one or several Chinese characters.In previous studies,the puzzle as experimental materials to study the process of insight,but less to study and solve the puzzle of incubation effect.Therefore,this study from the perspective of how to better solve the puzzle of focuses on incubation effect in the process of solving the puzzle.In addition to the general incubation effect to investigate the factors affecting the puzzle problems such as puzzle type,the difficulty and the interpolation task properties of these previous studies,research from the perspective of individual differences,to explore the role of working memory capacity to solve the puzzle.The experimental results are as follows:The experimental results show that 1a,in the process of solving puzzles,solving puzzles not better than incubation,the puzzle types have different effects on solving puzzles in the process of incubation effect: decomposition type puzzles not easily lead to more incubation effect,combined the puzzle more easily lead to incubation effect.The experimental results show that the 1b incubation period the subjects completed the calculation task can be caused by incubation effect than reading materials to solve the puzzle task,the results also show that incubation is conducive to solving the puzzle,the puzzle is easier than the combination type decomposition type puzzle triggered incubation effect.The experimental results show that 2a,the combination type puzzle case,medium difficulty puzzles difficult puzzles compared more easily lead to brewing,the individual complex interpolation task is more conducive to the puzzle solved in the process of incubation in the incubation period;the puzzle difficulty x interpolation task significant interaction,simple effects analysis showed that the high difficulty of incubation difference interpolation puzzle the task is not significant,moderatedifficulty puzzles in the complex task than in simple tasks more conducive to brewing,so as to effectively solve the puzzle,the difference effect of simple interpolation;incubation task for moderately difficult and difficult puzzle is not significant,the effect of incubation complex interpolation tasks for moderate difficult puzzle was superior to the high the difficulty of the puzzle.The experimental results show that 2B,in the case of decomposition type puzzles,medium difficulty difficult puzzle puzzles compared more easily lead to brew,the interpolation task complexity does not affect the incubation effect.In Experiment 3,the combination of the puzzle,the results showed that the high working memory capacity than individual low span individuals are more likely to lead to brewing,incubation during operation to minus three more easily lead to incubation effect than the rest;working memory span and way incubation significant interaction,low working memory span of individual tasks in the puzzle inserted in two incubation number had no significant difference,high working memory span task for individual interpolation operations by three the logogriph tasks for the rest of the inserting number was significantly higher than that in the number of incubation.In general,the results of Experiment 1showed that may help solve the puzzle of incubation;interpolation tasks to solve the calculation problem for combinatorial puzzle,more conducive to the emergence of incubation effect.The experimental 2showed that the medium difficulty combination puzzle to trigger the incubation effect;high difficulty decomposition type puzzles to trigger the incubation effect;Experiment3 showed that the high working memory span to produce individual incubation effect,at the same time interpolation tasks for the minus three operations easy to lead the incubation effect,experimental results support the theory of the unconscious assumptions incubation effect.
