This translation report is based on the paper,“Positions,Power and Practice:Functionalist Approaches and Translation Quality Assessment”,written by Hans G.Honig from the book Translation and Quality, which is edited by a well-known British scholar Christina Schaffner. In the paper,Honig argues that translation quality assessment(TQA for short)is a critical issue in translation studies and translation quality is something to be negotiated between the client and the translator.Chapter Two of this book was chosen as the translation material for this project,11,488 words in total, with an attempt to deepen the understanding of TQA and enrich theoretic knowledge of translation. The translation report consists of five chapters.Chapter One,Task Description, includes introductions to the book, editor, author, source text(ST for short)and significance of this project.Chapter Two,Process Description, focuses on the preparation,while-translating and quality control.Chapter Three,Difficulties and Skills,is the body of the report, involving how to translate information inside parentheses, reproduce academic tone in the target text(TT for short),translate long complex sentences and so on.Chapter Four is the theoretic reflections upon the translation project of this time.Chapter Five,Conclusion, summarizes the experience achieved from the transition practice, personal reflections as well as suggestions for future study.
