A Study On The Letters Selected By Wenxuan

Since the beginning of the eighties of last century,the split research of “Wenxuan” has become one of the hot spots in the Chinese Ancient Literature Study.Wenxuan included 22 letters which means letter is the largest category of the literary genre.But in fact,the relevant study about letters included by Wenxuan is very weak.This paper discusses the characteristics of the different types of letters collected by the Wenxuan,so as to clarify that under the selection standard,XiaoTong preferred which kind of letters.Then briefly analyze of the gains and losses of the Wenxuan,trying to increase the study results of letter included by Wenxuan.This paper is divided into four chapters as follows:Chapter 1: The introduction of letters.Before the Qin and Han Dynasties,the letters hadn't divided into public and private ones.Although the letters Wenxuan included are all private ones from Western Han Dynasty to Nan Dynasty,there's still controversy between the similar styles.This chapter mainly focuses on the independent process of private letters,and takes the works of Wenxuan as examples to analyze the stylistic differences between "Shu" and ”Jian” and "Xi" and "Yi".It is believed that the biggest difference among these four objects are mainly the object and the purpose of creation.Chapter 2: The selected standard of letters by Wenxuan.On the basis of combing the controversy on the selection criteria of Wenxuan,this chapter analyzes the text of letters in Wenxuan,and believe that besides the general selection standard,Xiao Tong has the following three orientation of letter selecting: first,pay attention to the expression of personality of the literati;Second,the recognition of "Sad" aesthetic taste in literature;Third,pay attention to the military and political correspondence.Chapter 3: The preferences of YingQu's letters by Wenxuan.Wenxuan included the highest number of YingQu's letters,so far scholars have only attributed to Xiao Tong on the "HanZao" pursuit.This paper combines the thought of YingQu and Xiao Tong,and analyzes the text of YingQu's letters selected in Wenxuan.It is believed that Xiao Tong's favor should not only lie in the standard of the macro selection,but also in the similar idea of Confucianism and Taoism in the letters.Chapter 4: Gains and losses of the selected letters in Wenxuan.Analyzing the influence of Wenxuan on the development of the two types of letters: Political Letters and Service Letters.In addition,family letters are popular in Han and Wei Dynasty,but there's only one included in Wenxuan.By analyzing the family letters text,we found that most of the Han and Wei family letters are not good enough of the emotional expression and the words are also plain.At last,the reason why Wenxuan didn't pay attention to Baozhao's famous letter is that this letter mixed up it's text style between “Shu” and “Fu”.And his emotional expression is not as good as those ones included in Wenxuan.
