Lord of the Flies is a remarkable achievement written by British novelist William Golding in 1954.And,in 1983,Golding won the Nobel Prize in literature “for its perspicuity of realistic narrative art and the diversity and university of myth and it illustrates the human condition in the world of today”.It has been studied from many aspects at home and abroad, but this thesis shows the research gap that few researchers have forced on the interpreting about the “heterotopia” creating in this novel since the research will based on the theory of “Heterotopias” supported by Michel Foucault, and tries to resolve the following questions: How does William Golding create this Heterotopia containing two opposite types of Utopia and Dystopia? In this heterotopia, how does the author describe the fight for power and the marginalized other? What is the author's aim to create this Heterotopia? The heterotopia in Lord of the Flies is a great invention of Golding's ingenuity, which vividly embodies people's current living space and provides an unique perspective for us to enter into the “exotic” outside of the real life,in order to find the future of mankind, makes the readers know that human civilization, living condition and moral problems concern us all.
