Medicine And Psychology: Resources And Expression Of Bi Shumin's Literary Creation

Bi Shumin's rich life course is quite special in contemporary literary circle,and her four life stages of being soldier,doctor,writer and psychiatrist have prompted her to pay particular attention to topics like life,death,disease and humanistic care,etc.Therefore,her works are sober-minded,optimistic and compassionate.In 1980 s,her works generated wide social response as she made her debut at the literary stage.Having possessed the medical and psychological background,Bi Shumin had integrated a lot of clinical practice and systematic pathological and psychological theories and thinking mode into literary creation,make her works unique in the contemporary literary world.Since she stepped into the literary arena,works over 4 million words have been published,and academic research upon her works in areas topics and expression techniques has been lots of research.However,it is still have bigger space of in medical and psychological research on the influence of her works.This thesis attempts to start from inter-disciplinary perspective and ultimately reveal the influence of multi-professional background and discipline accomplishment upon her literary creation through text close reading.Apart from abstract,introduction and conclusion,the thesis is divided into three parts:Part one tried to discusses the healer narration in Bi Shumin's works.Her medium and long novels are chosen as cases to specifically analyze the influence of the experience as a doctor upon narration content and style in her literary creation.Besides,it also ponders over the unique aesthetic value and significance of medical narration in her works,and examines her intrinsic cobsessiveness as a doctor to life and depth of humanistic care.Part two mainly expounds on the image of disease in Bi Shumin's works.First of all,the special experience of engagement in medical service and literary creation is sorted out to discuss the unique style against the medical background,especially the special disease complex formed in her works.Besides,some representative works like Red Prescription,Blood Exquisite and Saving Breasts,are chosen as the subject for close reading and interpretation,with a focus on revealing the metaphorical meaning behind the three diseases of drug addiction,leukemia and mammary cancer.It is expected to shed light on the discrimination eyes and cultural ideas under various disease symbols and uncover her concern over and rescue to reality and life.Part three mainly discusses the influence of Bi Shumin's works by psychological quality.Detailed discussion of the subject of creation of Bi Shumin by the change of identity or social roles influence of her works.It mainly focuses on the aspects of unique creative perspective and novel theme selection,hence enriching the connotation and tension of her works as the experience of psychological counselors.Through analyzing the three representative works with prominent psychological traces,namely Female Psychiatrist,Saving Breasts and Corona Virus,explain the psychology-based creation ideas of her novels.
