From the end of the fifteenth century to the beginning of the sixteenth century,there was a profound change in the collection of Dance of Death in Germany.When Heidelberg block book continues to use the schemas of crucifixion,Hans Holbein the younger represented the skeleton of the Dance of Death in a scientific way.According to the observation of the changes,this paper will use image analysis as the backing,combining the social and religious situation to explore the way which Holbein obtained the Scientificity in the Dance of Death under the background of printing.On this basis,according to the introduction of its devil image,further expounds the existence of irrational beliefs reflected in Dance of Death.Based on the above arguments,this paper attempts to prove that Holbein’s skeleton draws on human anatomy pictures in the circulation medical books,but at the same time,because the devil’s representation in the dance of death reflects the existence of Purgatory belief and witchcraft concept.Therefore,Holbein and its contemporaries’ scientific perspective have limitations.Through the analysis of the excistence of Scientificity and irrational belief in the Dance of Death,this paper provides new ideas and angles for the study of the theme of Dance of Death and Death Dance of is also a mirror,to be a real reflection of the artistic state,artistic state and social scene of Germany in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth centuries. |
