| This is a report on English-Chinese translation.The source text is taken from Chapters Three and Five of the book Social Media Marketing in Tourism and Hospitality by Roberta Minazzi.In these two chapters selected the author introduces what effects of social media have made on customers and suppliers in tourism industry;then he predicts the possible development of MSM in the future.This translation is aim to help target readers acquire more knowledge about the brand new marketing strategy.Guided by Newmark’s theory of communicative translation,this report bases its translation practice on the principles of “target reader-oriented” and “stressing the communicative effect”.Doing translation research should focus greatly on the original text,therefore the author of the report reads the original text and analyzes the text type firstly;Then she finds out the difficulty in conveying accurately the meaning of the source text and dealing with the problem of culture differences between SL and TL texts in order to produce the same effect on target readers as well as original readers.To solve the problems,the author chooses Nermark’s theory of communicative translation as a theoretical guidance by combining concrete cases of translation to construe and summarize translation strategies and skills used in the process.Thus,Newmark’s guidelines and principles relevant to translation are testified.This report includes the following five parts.Part One introduces the task description which contains the background,content of the source text and the significance and purpose of this report.Part Two is about the preparations before translation,which is inclusive of the reasons for choosing this source text,the translation tools,the translation plan and the translation strategies.Part Three focuses on the description of the translation process.Part Four,the core of this report,devotes to case analysis at lexical and sentential levels,which is used to exemplify the main difficulties in the translation report.The last but not the least draws a conclusion of this translation report. |
