The source text for this translation report is taken from Chapters Nine and Ten of the textbookEthics in Computing: A Concise Module, which discusses the influence on social ethics exerted by the development of computing and explores the ethical subjects related to computing in modern times, including cyberbullying and ethical issues brought by the development of artificial intelligence, virtualization and cyberspace. The source text also provides some advice on these ethical issues in computing from a scientific and reasonable perspective. After an in-depth analysis, the translator finds thatthe source text has some features as follows: words, expressions and sentences used in the original text are proper, formal and objective;the content is strictly conveyed in a logical and reasonable way.For the purpose to pass information on ethics in computing to readers, the translator comes to the conclusion that the process of translation,on the basis of proper delivery of the original content, should focus on using words, expressionsand sentences that are in accord with the reading habit of the target language readers and easy to understand,so that the target language readers can have a better grasp of the information passed by the original text and get the same reading feelings as the source language readers. Therefore, skopos theory can serve as the theoretical guidance during the process of translation to ensure that the translated version concisely and properly deliver the information and ideas. This translation report consists of five parts.Part one introduces the background information, including the purpose and significance of the selected material,as well as the structure of this translation report.Part two briefly analyzes the source text, including introduction to the author, the main content of the selected chapters, and the features of its language.Part three describes the process of translation and the theory applied, including preparation for translation.Part four focuses on the specific strategies and methods used in the translator's practice, including conversion of word classes, supplement, omission, conversion of voice and process of long sentences, with some specific cases to illustrate how the translator employs them in both vocabulary perspective and grammar perspective. The last part concludes the report by discussing experience and lessons learnt from the translation practice, including the translator's reflection and summary of the translation practice.
