Study On The Narration Of Dilemmas In Chinese Urban Comedy Films In The New Century

In the new century,Chinese urban comedy films reflect the situation of urban people' s lives,and the comedic style expression is close to the populace aesthetic and shows the modern mass' spiritual status.At the same time,with the development of the age,Chinese urban comedy films clearly shows a new phenomenon different from the past in the narration of dilemmas.Therefore,this paper examines the Chinese urban comedy films in the new century,especially focusing on the dilemmas setting and solutions of the narration.Dilemma is a scene that the narration of the film intends to break the balance of the protagonist life and limits the protagonist to achieve their desire.The study found that these dilemmas are gender-sensitive: firstly,the dilemmas faced by the hero of gender are differences in the level of dramatic conflict;second,the obstacles in the process of the characters achieving the purpose and the solutions to the dilemmas are also different.The main purpose of the paper is to explore the social culture behind the new phenomenon,to understand the current society's preconceptions about gender,and to deepen our understanding of our own era's spirit and our present situation by question it.Chinese urban comedy films have perceived gender difference and improved its' percept and awareness about gender if examined from a historic perspective.However,they still reflect the complexity of deconstructing traditional sex stereotype and reconstructing gender if we analyze the contexts thoroughly.Firstly,the gender dilemmas in the films are related to the drama conflicts and the obstruction for the protagonists to attain their goals,and are manipulated by the gender binary opposition.For example,men experience the conflict between human beings and society,and conflicts from inner heart.While women will encounter the conflict between men and women.Secondly,these films end with a decisive victory,a resolution of the problem and a clear achievement,but fail to rebuild Subjects.Although heroes and heroines build their self-identities from working through dilemmas and in some way jumped out of the sex-stereotype,influenced by the patriarchal society and popular culture,most characters still fell anxiously and loss.Comedy strategies create a relaxed and humorous mode,but cover the conservative attitude when dealing with the dilemma of the psychological.Moreover,the gender perception once again quietly returns to patriarchal discourse system.At last,on one hand,the value judgments,cultural ideologies and gender cognition demonstrated in the “perfect”treatment of gender dilemmas affect the audiences.On the other,narrative strategies also impact the contemporary productions.Therefore,in order to reconstruct equal gender perception,Chinese urban comedy films still have a long way to go.
