A Multiangle Survey Of The Contained And Coexistent Construction "X Zhong You Y"

This paper systematically investigates the construction of “X zhong you Y”.Based on the theories of Structural Linguistics and Cognitive Linguistics,It makes detailed description and in-depth analysis on all the language examples on sides of grammar,semantic and pragmatic.Then this paper explores the internal discipline and generative mechanism of this language form.Firstly,we analysis internal constitution of this construction,inducting the number of syllables and the parts of speech of X and Y.Through analyzing the words filled in the construction,we summarize the sense relations between X and Y,including the opposite,relative,synonymous,similar and same relations.Meanwhile,we also find that X and Y in the same language example must be in the same thing category or behavior and status category.Secondly,we summarize the ideographic mechanism and construction semantics of“X zhong you Y”.We consider that the construction semantics of “X zhong you Y” takes shape based on a cognitive model “objective perception-image schema-semantic frame-specific words”.On that basis,we summarize rich construction semantics of it.Thirdly,we discover that the syntactic position of“X zhong you Y” is flexible.It can act as many kinds of syntactic components,including subject,predicate,object,attributive,adverbial,complement and language center.Besides that,“X zhong you Y”can act as clauses in single form or multinomial form.Finally,we analysis this construction from the perspective of pragmatics.We consider that the economy principle of language and productivity are the main reasons of “X zhong you Y” coming into being and still using today.There is a close relation between“X zhong you Y”and context while we use it.“X zhong you Y”or“you Y”usually is the focus of expression,and also is the semantic emphasis what speakers want to express.
