With the gradual maturity of research on teachers' cognition both at home and abroad, research on grammar teaching beliefs in the second language teaching field also shows a steady upward trend. In the meantime, many scholars have noticed the importance of reach the cognitive level and paying attention to(pre-service)teachers' beliefs in teacher training. The study of grammar teaching beliefs of pre-service CSL(Chinese as a Second Language)teachers is underway. However, there is still no concern about such groups of teachers abroad. In this context, this paper chooses the students of Chinese education in Chiangmai Royal University as a sample to study the grammar teaching beliefs of Thai pre-service CSL teachers.Hope this paper will help to reveal the development of CSL teaching ideas in Thailand and,on that basis, provide some reference for the training of local CSL teachers in Thailand. This paper has seven chapters, the first three chapters are introductory chapters:Chapter one is introduction.Explain the research background and significance of this article, and propose the research frame based on related researches.Chapter two is literature review.Which summarizes the research status of teachers'beliefs and teachers' grammar teaching beliefs in the field of second language teaching respectively.Chapter three is research design.Introduces the research questions, research samples and the research methods adopted in this paper.Chapter four to six is the main part of this study:Chapter four investigates the grammar teaching beliefs of Thai pre-service CSL teachers by means of questionnaires,semi-structured interviews and classroom observation. The results show that their grammar teaching beliefs are traditional in many ways:they attach great importance to the accuracy of the forms of language, prefer the use of deductive methods and translation methods in grammar teaching, acknowledge the importance of pattern drills;meanwhile, they don't hold the communicative-beliefs completely, and lack recognition of using target language in teaching. In addition, their grammar teaching beliefs also showed great ambiguity. At the end of this chapter, the author has given commons on their beliefs.Chapter five investigates the influencing factors of grammar teaching beliefs of Thai pre-service CSL teachers by combining questionnaires, interviews with teachers and classroom observation. And found that their Chinese proficiency,Chinese learning duration, study experience in China and Chinese teaching experience did not significantly affect their beliefs. However,Chinese professional learning experiences showed strong correlation with their beliefs.Professional training failed to provide effective guidance on their beliefs.According to the results of the previous two chapters, chapter six puts forward suggestions on how to improve the grammar teaching beliefs of Thai pre-service CSL teachers. In terms of teacher's teaching, teachers need to pay attention to communication in the classroom;attach different importance to form and meaning distinctively according to different tasks;use the target language to teach from the very beginning;convey the advanced and scientific Language teaching ideas to students consciously. In terms of teacher distribution, native Chinese teachers should take more language skills classes of junior grades. In terms of professional training, relevant courses should introduce teaching theories and methods systematically;curriculum teachers should lead the pre-service teachers to develop a habit of teaching reflection.Chapter seven is the conclusive chapter:The research results and shortcomings of this article are summarized, and the prospect of related researches is put forward.
