In cross-cultural interpreting, cultural differences will lead to meaning blanks and result in poor communicative effects at last. Most studies about meaning blank focused on translation or literature previously. However, there were few relevant studies in interpretation. This thesis, selecting speeches of President Xi Jinping and Minister Wang Yi at G20 summit, tries to discuss the occurrence and expression of meaning blank, and find out proper blank filling methods.Cultural disparity and vacancy will lead to meaning blank in interpreting. In terms of cultural disparity, language and cultural intention disparities are both representative to some extent. And interpretation can be seen as a bridge for cultural communication,so cultural vacancy will produce meaning blank as well.Interpreters need to take proper interpreting methods to fill meaning blanks depending on different situations.Proper blank filling will integrate similar information and achieve better communicative effects;conversely, improper blank filling may lead to cultural image deviations or verbose expressions. In fact, interpreting is far from language shifts.According to analysis,it can be found that interpretation involves not only language transitions, but also proper meaning blank filling. And interpreters should accordingly adopt proper methods to fill meaning blank as well as improve rigid language shifts in order to convey information completely and finally achieve a better communicative effect.Meanwhile,it is also necessary for interpreters to reduce influences brought by improper blank filling to some extent.
