From the view of cultural identity of cultural studies and post colonialism,Eugene O'Neill depicts many diasporas under the heterogeneous cultural environment,facing with the collision and conflict of the dual cultures,these diaspora groups are confronted with a series of identity problems.They experienced a strong ideological shock because of the conflict of alien culture and the national culture.They cannot discard their ingrained national consciousness and deep national emotion easily,so the diaspora often face the mixed identity,suspended identity caused by the double cultural alienation,the loss of subjectivity and other identity crisis.Compared with the marginalized situation of the scattered male group,the female group is faced with the dual oppression of the mainstream society and the male centered society in the immigration country,in a way they are on the edge of the edge and become the absentee and the silent in history whose position is limited by male discourse,and it is difficult for them to speak and more difficult to build real self.What's more,the diaspora in their family also encounter of the ethical dilemma.In order to integrate into the mainstream society as soon as possible,the diaspora have lost the religious belief of their mother country.The lack of faith and moral indifference not only makes them tarp into the ethics disorder,confused to choose the correct choice faced with multiple identity,but also urge these diasporas to explore methods in order to resolve their family ethics conflict.Throughout the literary history,reality and aesthetic dimension,O'Neill's exploration of the cultural identity produced a lot of inspiration.First of all,O'Neill's identity plays have brought a new form of text construction,he breaks through the conventional mode of identity writing in the excavation of complex human nature and secret inner heart.Secondly,the identity crisis encountered by diaspora groups is also the epitome of the universal spiritual predicament faced by contemporary human beings,which has enlightenment functions for the common destiny of modern people who seeking the spiritual home.In addition,O'Neill's innovation of dramatic art shows unique aesthetic features,which cannot be ignored.
