"Identity gaze" is the gaze of the Lord and the object based on mutual recognition.Together with the "authority gaze" it constitutes the theory of the "gaze".In this paper,"identity gaze" as the research object,focusing on analysis of "identity gaze" generated context and cultural practice.At the same time,combining with the characteristics of the times of visual culture,we explore the development trend of "identity gaze" and the mechanism of the conversion and coexistence of "identity gaze" and "authority gaze ".The first part is the theoretical basis of "identity gaze".The theory of " identity gaze" can be traced back to the 20 th century Sartre and Lacan.On the "gazing" theory point of view,Sartre's "others' gaze" clearly defines the relationship between the gaze of the Lord and the object and the struggle between them.Lacan's "small form of gaze" emphasizes that "gaze" can only exist in the eyes of the interactivity of the Lord and the object.In addition,Arnheim and Merleau Ponti's theory of visual identity further affirmed that the gaze of the Lord cann't emerge from the other.The second part is the realistic basis of the development of "identity gaze".The realistic basis of the development of "identity gaze" is the characteristic of image interpretation in visual culture.Mainly manifested in three aspects: First,the equal right of individuals to interpret the image,translocation the "authority gaze" the subordinate status of the other,so that the Lord and the object are in an equal position;Second,the individual's freedom of interpretation of images breaks the absolute lord and the object in " authority Gaze";Third,the power of image interpretation of individual interaction pursues the exchange and negotiation between the lord and the object.The characteristics of the times illustrated by these images lay a solid foundation for the development of "identity gaze".The third part is the form of the cultural practice of "identity gaze".Mainly refers to the "star gazing","the tourist gaze" in cultural studies that emerged at the end of the 20 th century,as well as "le regard du portraits " in the field of traditional painting.These forms of cultural practice enrich the theoretical content of "gazing into recognition" about the relationship between the lord and object,the lord of gaze and the intention of gaze,and also establish the contemporary theoretical discourse for "identity gaze".The fourth part is the development trend of "identity gaze".The development of "identity gaze" mainly manifests itself in the image field and the social field.In the direction of development,the visual practice of "identity gaze" is mainly to keep the visual vigilance in the social construction and to dismantle the power to gaze upon the foundations established.Second,it establishes own way and principles of gaze.Finally,the mechanism of seeking and power gaze conversion and existence.
