With the rapid economic development in recent years,Business Schools have gained popularity in China.Business School case,one of the courses in Business School,has become the target for people to learn.The experience that people learn from it is indispensable for becoming effective managers and decision-makers.Therefore the translation of Business School case is of great significance.This thesis is an English-Chinese(E-C)translation practice report that consists of three chapters and a conclusion,in which background and significance,translation process,and case analysis are discussed.Under the guidance of American translation theorist George Steiner's Hermeneutics Fourfold Translation Motion,that is,trust,aggression,incorporation and restitution,the author of the report analyzes the translation of the source text from four aspects:first,business and law-related words in which trust,aggression,incorporation are mainly used due to their generally existing equivalents in the target language,literal translation skill is often adopted;second,long sentence in which trust,aggression,incorporation and restitution all are fully used to interpret and understand the source text,division and combination skills are mainly adopted;third,cohesion and coherence of translation in which restitution is often used for reading smoothly,amplification and deletion skills are mostly adopted;fourth,cases without proper Chinese counterpart in which incorporation is focused on in the process of translation,paraphrasing skill is frequently used.The translation report indicates that in order to accurately translate Business School cases,the translator should not only have a better and correct understanding of business-related knowledge,but also apply proper translation theory to provide helpful guidance and adapt the target text by appropriate translation skills and methods to meet the requirements of the target readers.
