With the advent of the 21 st century,the continuous development of society and the rapid technological progress,the community’s demand for talent has become more urgent.As a major educational institution to cultivate applied technology talents,higher vocational colleges have already regarded cultivating students’ ability of autonomous learning as an important teaching goal.Public English teaching,as an important part of higher vocational education,will also regard cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability as an important teaching goal.At present,most of the researches on the autonomous learning of public English in higher vocational education are theoretical.Although some scholars have carried on the research on the construction of autonomous learning teaching model,there are some problems in these researches,such as theoretical guiding practice and the specific operation process not clear.So the front-line teachers have much difficulty in applying the results of its research to actual teaching.In view of this,this paper attempts to study the theory of autonomous learning and the concept of teaching model to build a operational higher vocational English autonomous learning teaching model,which can cultivate students’ English application ability and autonomous learning ability.In this study,the author first gets the meaning and role of the application of autonomous learning to the construction of vocational English teaching model from the research on autonomous learning theory and teaching model.On the basis of these related research,the author draws lessons from three kinds of teaching modes,such as task-based teaching model,flip class model and PAD class model,and explain how the vocational English autonomous learning teaching model is built by combining the teaching principles,teaching objectives,operating procedures,implementation conditions and teaching evaluation.The teaching unit cycle of the vocational English autonomous learning teaching model is for two weeks,and the specific operation procedure is divided into four parts and thirteen stages.The teaching experiment of this study should study the following questions: 1.How to implement the vocationalEnglish autonomous learning teaching model effectively in the actual teaching practice.2.Whether the vocational English autonomous learning teaching model can improve students’ ability of English application.3.Whether the vocational English autonomous learning teaching models can improve the students’ autonomous learning ability,which includes the inner learning motivation,cognitive strategy,metacognitive strategy and the ability to make full use of learning resources.In the course of empirical research,the author took two similar classes which the author teaches as the experimental class and the control class of the study.The author used autonomous learning teaching model to teach public English in the experimental class while in the control class the author used the traditional teaching method(3p teaching method)to teach public English.Through the teaching experiment of one semester,it is proved that compared with the traditional teaching method,vocational English autonomous learning teaching model can improve the students’ ability of English application more effectively,and can improve the students’ autonomous learning ability,which include inner learning motivation,cognitive strategy,metacognitive strategies and the ability of full use of learning resources. |
