Reading is a complex psychological activity,and many researchers study the infulence of the foreign language reading anxiety on the reading process and reading results,analyze the students' reading anxiety sources,and put forward some countermeasures to ease theanxiety.Intermediate level students in Shanghai international studies university as the research objects,through personal background information questionnaire,students' self evaluation sheet,the adaptation of the Chinese reading anxiety survey scale,reading test and personal interview,to collect the relevant data.Using SPSS software for data analysis,combined with teaching practice and teaching material analysis,we summarized the causes of reading anxiety in intermediate level students.In this paper,we compare the students in the two groups based on their nationality,summarize the similarities and differences,and put forward the countermeasures to alleviate the reading anxiety,and provide the experience for Chinese reading teaching in the future.Through the investigation and analysis,we found that vocabulary and culture factors can cause most Chinese reading anxiety,competitive psychological factors,lack of confidence and reading strategies are also the main reason cause students in Chinese reading anxiety.In the relationship between anxiety and reading scores,moderate anxiety can promote reading,and high anxiety has negative effects on reading.According to these conclusions,this paper puts forward some countermeasures to ease the anxiety in two aspects:teachers should attach great importance to the vocabulary teaching and cultural factors teaching,strengthen the cultivation of reading strategies,learners should set up self-confidence and proper competition and do a good job of review and preview.
