The Discussion On Artistic Features And Performance Skills Of Samuel Barber's "souvenirs"

Samuel Barber(Samuel barber,1910-1981)is one of the most famous composers in America in the 20 th century and enjoys a high reputation and status in the music industry.His musical works have a wide range of genres,including orchestral music,violin,piano,vocal music,symphony,opera and so on.His works of music have a strong romantic flavor,but also joined the modernist music elements,so his style of work is called "neo-romanticism" style.He has a unique style in piano music creation."Souvenirs" is one of the most best of the piano works.This article will take the "Souvenirs" as the research object,introduces the music style and the performance skills of the composer.This paper is mainly composed of three parts,introduction,theory and conclusion.This theory is divided into three parts:the first part is the summary of Samuel Barber,including his life,creation stage,style characteristics and the creation background of "Souvenirs",the second part analyzes the creative techniques in the "Souvenirs",including the development of subject material and melody,the technique of polyphony,rhythm and tempo,as well as the use of modes and tonality;the third part expounds the different styles of the six pieces and the author's experience in performing the work.
