The author majors in Zheng performance,after learning the theory of music therapy and relevant knowledge,exploring the combination of Zheng and music therapy in order to find a new development direction of Zheng research.Since there are less current research on the treatment of orphans and disabled youth with music at home and abroad,in particular,using instrumental music as an active intervention,which has few cases of improving the self-recognition of orphans and disabled youth.In this study,an orphans and adolescents from a welfare institution in Tianjin were selected as research subjects,and a one-year training program of Zheng was designed based on their psychological and physiological characteristics.Through a combination of individual learning and group learning,the self-recognition was improved,as well as their music accomplishment and Zheng playing skills.The results of the study show that the music treatment methods,combining Zheng with the initiative of participants,improved their self-recognition,the level of music accomplishment and zither playing individually.This research not only provided a good training method for orphaned and adolescents who lacked self-recognition,but also enriched new methods for music therapy,especially in the field of musical instrument therapy.In addition,It also provides a basis for the future development of Zheng,and explored the new value and role of Zheng in the new era.
