A Research Of Intercultural Sensitivity On Chinese Students Of MTCSOL

The intercultural communicative competence is one of the basic abilities that must be possessed by students majoring Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL).The interaction between international Chinese teachers and Chinese language learners is a process of intercultural communication,which is important and can be a problematic part in teaching.Therefore,teachers of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(TCSOL)incrementally focus on cultivating Chinese language learners' intercultural communicative competence.However,there are few empirical studies on the intercultural communicative competence of MTCSOL students currently.Through this thesis,in order to get some empirical data,the writer hopes to investigate intercultural communicative competence of MTCSOL—focusing on the intercultural sensitivity.To aid this research,Chen and Starosta's Intercultural-Sensitivity Scale is employed to analyze the intercultural sensitivity,which is the emotional aspect of the intercultural communicative competence of the Chinese MTCSOL Students.To find the most effective way of improving the intercultural sensitivity of Chinese MTCSOL students,with the help of the author's own learning and teaching experience and combining the characteristics of MTCSOL,the research analyzes the influencing factors in intercultural sensitivity from three aspects:intercultural courses,after-course intercultural activities,and the practical experience of international Chinese teaching.Based on questionnaire and the results,some recommendations are given on the method of improving intercultural sensitivity of MTCSOL.
