Reflections Of Anti-racism In Zootopia

Since Zootopia was released,the Disney animation movie has been popular.The movie depicts that through their efforts the rabbit Judy and the fox Nick successfully uncover the predators’ savage attacks,prevent the racial opposition and become police officers,overturning the racial discrimination against them.This thesis attempts to analyze this film from the perspective of racism and intends to demonstrate how this film embodies the reflection of anti-racism through the criticism of racism and anti-racism from three main aspects.The first chapter takes Judy as the example to illustrate all kinds of racial discrimination and how she is stereotyped as the one who can not become a real bunny police officer so as to express the criticism of racism.The second chapter analyzes their conceptual awakening and actions of three typical characters that all are victims of racial discrimination to struggle for their equality so as to contribute to the presentation of anti-racism in this film.The third chapter focuses on the analysis of limitations of anti-racists.When the anti-racists successfully overturn the racial discrimination against them and gain equality of rights,some become new racial perpetrators who have discrimination over the predators;some seek more power to fight against the new underprivileged;others give stereotypes to the predators.Through the progressive deduction in three chapters,a conclusion can be drawn that it seems that this film presents anti-racists’ criticism of racism,but,it is actually designed for the reflection of anti-racism how to think about the relationship among equality,rights and power.And through self effort achieving self value and recognizing the freedom and equality behind the differences can make power to serve the freedom and equality instead of making more discrimination.
