This topic centered around the classic opera "Mulan poetry” and chose " If I were a woman" aria as the research object.First of all,the paper summarized the introduction,background and performance of the opera "Mulan poetry".The historical background and inherent characteristics of the opera were presented;Then the artistic features of the opera were summarized from drama and artistic expression,to highlight the theme and character of the opera for the further research from the characters perspective;Finally,taken the scene of " If I were a woman" as research object,the topic analyzed the singing characteristics of the female and male lead actor in “If I were a Woman”.It started from the performance images of the two protagonists,including the singing style,the style of biting,the emotional expression in the performance and the combination of body movements,etc.Furthermore,combined with practical experience gained in the professional learning process,this dissertation analyzed the emotions in vocal music,the performance of the character's psychological activity,and the coordination of body movements and singing,etc.It has certain practical guidance and practical value in the better understanding on the operatic works in the future.
