Puxian Opera,popular among the Xinghua-dialect-speaking areas,was originally named Xinghua Opera.In ancient times,Xinghua was the name of a state whose jurisdiction inludes a range of Putian County,Xianyou County and some other Xinghua-dialect-speaking areas in the middle and south of Fujian.According to researches,Puxian Opera originated from “the Hundred Plays” in Tang dynasty.It came into being in Song,flourished in Ming and Qing.Today over 5,000 traditional plays are still being performed.As one of the oldest existing Han plays,Puxian Opera was enrolled in the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2006.The academic world refers to Puxian Opera as “the living fossils of Nan Opera”,which was widely popular in Song and Yuan dynasty.Its historical status has been recognized by more and more experts and scholars.Puxian Opera represents a simple yet classically elegant performance.It is a unique esthetic style of art,whose creative characters can be distinguished from those of any other opera.The dance posture of the female roles is typically unique with its delicate moves,rich dialogues,strict technical requirement and high esthetic standards.There have been numerous classic and lively female characters created in Puxian Opera.From the perspective of modern choreography,this essay focuses on the research of Tsingyi's dance pattern and the posture elements in Puxian Opera,discusses its performance style,dance moves,and cultural features.It also aims to utilize the Tsingyi posture stylization and virtualization in choreography.Meanwhile,the author seeks to find reasons and methods to back up the theories in the essay as well as in practice from the outcome exhibition of her graduation project Yi Hu Zhu,so as to create and produce dance projects that can stay culturally rich in traditional aroma as well as aesthetically edgy to the needs of the modern audience.
