This report takes the English-Chinese translation of Energy Intermittency(Chapter 3,4 and 14),a sci-tech text about energy as the foundation. It describes the problems that may impede the energy producing process and since this topic is related to various subjects, the text uses complicated language structures to specify the statement. As energy gains more attention day by day,the study of this kind of material has its practical and strategic significance. Therefore, the translator sums up the specific problems and difficult points that appeared during the process of translation and illustrates the methods as well as the strategies that the translator used to address these problems. The main difficult points and problems that confused the translator during the translation process are,how to properly express the complicated long sentences. This kind of sentences can be divided into two kinds. One refers to those that contain multiple modifier such as non-predicate verbs and various kinds of subordinate clauses The other includes those passive sentences that became intricate because of the inclusion of various subordinate clauses. To the first kind of problem, the translator firstly analyzed the sentence structure in order to be fully aware of their meanings and then adopted the methods of translating in reverse order, recasting, cutting, division, etc. To the second kind of problem, the translator used the methods of translating the passive structure into active structure, into non-subject sentence and keep the passive structure as it may be.The translation practice helps the translator master the linguistic features and some basic translation strategies about sic-tech text related to energy. It is expected that the translator's work can provide reference to those who work in the related area.
