Research On The Relationship Of Negative Physical Self,Physical Appearance Perfectionism,Fear Of Negative Evaluation And Social Appearance Anxiety Of The Female College Students

Female college students are faced with social situational problems such as love or interpersonal interaction,and attractive appearance can produce a pleasant emotional experience or an approachable willingness to increase the individual's confidence in the social process.However,excessive attention to appearance has also caused a series of problems,such as excessive attention to body size and appearance,body dissatisfaction,low sense of self-worth and persistent negative emotional experience.In severe cases,a series of unhealthy conditions even appear,such as eating disorders.This study takes appearance as the starting point and chooses the more prominent psychological phenomena of female college students at present which has negative physical self,fear of negative evaluation,physical appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety.According to the theory,negative physical self has influence on social appearance anxiety,and fear of negative evaluation and physical appearance perfectionism can help explain the influence mechanism of both.So this study selected 600 female college students from Harbin to investigate the relationship.The results of the study can provide effective suggestions for the psychological health guidance of female college students.The results showed that:(1)There were significant differences in negative physical self among female college students in terms of whether the one-child,the place of origin and BMI,but the difference was not significant in subject and grade;There was no significant difference between whether the one-child,the place of origin,subject,grade and BMI of female college students' fear of negative evaluation;There was no significant difference in physical appearance perfectionism among female college students in terms of the place of origin,subjects and grades but the difference was significant in whether the one-child and BMI.There was no significant difference in social appearance anxiety among female college students in terms of whether the one-child,the place of origin,subjects and grades but the difference was significant in BMI.(2)There were significant correlation between negative physical self,fear of negative evaluation,physical appearance perfectionism and social appearance anxiety.(3)Female college students' negative physical self has a significant positive predictive effect on social appearance anxiety.(4)Female college students' fear of negativeevaluation mediates between their negative physical self and social appearance anxiety.(5)Female college students' physical appearance perfectionism mediates between their negative physical self and social appearance anxiety.(6)Female college students' fear of negative evaluation and physical appearance perfectionism have a chained effect on negative physical self and social appearance anxiety.
