Culture is the crucial ingredient in the characteristics of ethnic group and ethnicity, which is also the important embodiment of ethnic vitality, persevering and inheriting the national culture. It is one of the necessary conditions to maintain ethnic boundaries and avoid being assimilated by other ethnic groups. In Southeast Asian countries, Malaysian Chinese remain the most integrated traditional culture of China. This paper regards Chinese fishing village of Five Ports in Malaysia as the research object and describes its phenomenon about the perseverance and inheritance of traditional culture through the following aspects: language, accommodation, food, clothing, festival, marriage, funeral and religion etc, based on fieldwork. Meanwhile, it analyzes and discusses the traditional culture from the reasons, the role it played and the realistic significance. The paper holds that the bonding power which is formed by the special natural and social environments of Five Ports is the major reason. Moreover, the perseverance and inheritance also have some important realistic meanings, such as maintaining subsistence, constructing the boundary of ethnic group, promoting identification, realizing self-value and boosting cultural transmission. At the same time, Five Ports village also accelerates the development of Chinese ethnic group and its society.
