An Analysis On The People-Oriented Idea And Practice Of The People's Action Party Of Singapore

The PAP had found the way to serve the people better when they made the Singapore' miracle.People-oriented idea is the guiding ideology of the PAP,which has caught much attention of the generations of Singapore leaders.PAP got reelected at the landslide win in each general election and had been in power for over half a century,which had countless connects with their People-oriented idea.How to practice the People-oriented idea better to win more support,and how to reinforce its governing position is very important for PAP.PAP had won the trusts and supports of the people when they puts people's interests in the first place while they make policy decisions and take the implementations.In the first part of this article,I have analyzed how the People-oriented idea comes out in historical dimensionality and realistic dimensionality.In the second part,the value orientation and feature of PAP's People-orientation is analyzed,which ended by the conclusion that PAP's People-oriented idea has the pragmatic value orientation and has the feature of grassroots character,sustainability and practicality.The third part talks about five aspects of the practices of People-oriented idea,they are: to develop the economy firstly and provide an ideal investment climate;pay more attention on the living quality of people and perfect social security system;attach importance to education and trade up for talent;promote harmonious development and construct the garden city;improve the grassroots service system and reflect local sensibilities acutely.The last part of the article provide the challenges at this stage: the awakening of the democratic consciousness shocks the authoritarian regime,lacking of effectiveness shocks the legality of the party,the new media calls for raising the party's governing ability.
