In recent years, the 3D printing technology has developed rapidly and has been wildly applied to medicine, aviation, archaeology, food and other industries. While providing the convenience of life, the illegal and illicit activities appear at the same time. For these new offenses adjust the legal system of the relevant areas are also facing a severe challenge. This paper introduces the origin and development of 3D printing technology, and also describes its technical principles and characteristics. On this basis, starting from the patent system, which links the most closely with the development of technology, this paper mainly discuss the influence on the relevant legal system relating to the patent field, which caused by changes in technical innovation of 3D printing, including:patent application, patent licensing, patent infringement, and patent protection. And it mainly focuses around whether the existing patent system is sufficient for the need of technology development and the identification of patent infringement. And if not, how the adjustments should be made to cope with that. In order to explore the direction of the patent system under the development of 3D printing environment. It also attempts to propose targeted advice to improve the patent system through analyses of the data copyright reference and the indirect protecting channel of patent. Besides, it explores other possibly effective models (which has a role to play in effect), such as the open-source system and micro patent system. Through the discussion of these systems, it clarifies their roles in technological innovation and rights protection under the patent system and whether there is need to absorb them into the patent system.
